“GetGreen: South Bronx Earth Fest” will bring its annual celebration of the environment and the culture of the South Bronx to St. Mary’s Park on St. Ann’s Avenue and 146th Street on a to be announced date this Fall 2016. The free event will take place from noon to 4:00 PM and will offer an afternoon full of family fun with an environmental purpose.
Exhibitors will share information about the environment, recycling, climate change, and how people can make a difference. Festival goers can visit the Youth Farmers Market, participate in Recycling Olympic Games, and enjoy other activities from environmental storytelling to face painting. Entertainment includes environmentally themed youth performances, a "green" fashion show, and Hot 97 DJs.
Festival goers are invited to drop off old household electronics, clothing and textiles for recycling -- or trade unused home goods with your neighbors at the free "Stop & Swap" exchange.
During the event, GetGreen organizers will honor community leaders and organizations who are making a difference in the Bronx.
